    TNALLCORP Tutoring Job Description
     
    Washington County Schools (WCDE) is one of 79 school districts in the state of Tennessee to implement TN ALL CORPS tutoring in their school system. By taking advantage of this program, students in WCDE will have the opportunity for extra learning from certified teachers and/or highly trained tutors during their school day or after school. Tutors will be provided at schools based on need for grades 1st � 8th grade in Reading and Mathematics. Various tutor type positions are available throughout the district. All tutors will be required to attend specific trainings related to their area of support.
     
    TUTOR TYPES:

    • Certified teachers
    • Retired teachers (An active teaching license is not required to serve as a tutor.)
    • Instructional assistants, paraprofessionals, or other school support staff
    • College graduates
    • Current undergraduate or graduate students
    • High school students may serve as tutors based on the school district guidelines and discretion.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Attend required tutoring training sessions as directed by the Project Director
    • Current background check
    • Drug screen

    • Doctor's note stating satisfactory health record

     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESONSIBILITIES:  

    • Provides tutoring instruction based on the guidelines set from district.
    • Cooperates and coordinates with the Project Director and Site Coordinator  
    • Maintains effective, developmentally appropriate student management techniques in all settings.
    • Monitors student progress with resources provided by Project Director and Site Coordinator.
    • Maintains positive and supportive communication with all stakeholders.
    • Prepares for classes and shows evidence of planning.
    • Assumes the responsibility of having regular and timely attendance.
    • Participates in a variety of meetings and training.
    • Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job
    • Follows all board policies, school system rules and administrative regulations.
    • Maintains confidentiality relative to employee, student, and parent records/information and procedures according to legal and system guidelines such as the Employee Handbook.
    • Reports immediately, as required by law, to the appropriate agency(ies) and the principal or other persons designated by the school system, incidents of actual or suspected child abuse, actual or suspected child sexual abuse.
    • Reports immediately, as required by law or school policy, to the appropriate agency(ies) and/or the principal or other persons designated by the school system, incidents involving unlawful student possession of weapons or drugs or fighting on school property.
    • Responds to emergency situations and safety concerns as necessary and directs appropriate personnel for resolution. 

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    This job requires lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., or the average weight of a child, if assigned to elementary grades, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs or more. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

    VOCATIONAL PREPARATION
    The required vocational preparation may come from any of the following:
