Title I Tutor (Grant Funded, Temporary Position)

Jackson Memorial Elementary

March 5, 2026

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Is at least 21 years of age.
2. Bachelor's degree or higher
3. Possesses or is eligible for a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) teaching license
4. Accurately follows oral and written directions.
5. Previous school-based experience with children preferred

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assist Title I and classroom teachers with providing early literacy and academic instruction to identified students.
• Work with individual students and/or small groups to reinforce literacy and academic skills based on identified student needs.
• Implement instructional lessons to support achievement goals in collaboration with classroom teachers and/or reading specialists.
• Demonstrate general knowledge of teaching practices, methods, and materials used to support early literacy development.
• Prepare and use instructional and supplementary learning materials as directed.
• Assist Title I teachers with VALLSS and other assessments; administer assessment tools as assigned to evaluate student progress.
• Record and maintain accurate student data from tutoring sessions and lessons, and share results with appropriate teachers.
• Follow instructional schedules developed by supervising instructional staff.
• Provide program activities as directed by Title I or classroom teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers and reading specialists through written and oral communication regarding student achievement.
• Participate in required professional development and training sessions.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and school-related information.
• Perform other related instructional duties as assigned.
