Description

We are seeking students to work as Literacy/STEM Tutors at one of our community partner organizations, ACLAMO. ACLAMO is a Montgomery County-based nonprofit organization that provides educational programs, social services, and access to health and wellness programs to Latinos and other community members to empower them to fully achieve their life potential. Tutors in ACLAMO’s Mentoring & Career Development Program will work with elementary and/or middle school students to reinforce literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts, foster academic confidence, and create an engaging learning environment.

Location: on site in Norristown, PA, transportation provided

Hours: up to 6 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide one-on-one and/or small group tutoring in reading, writing, mathematics, and science

    Assist students with homework completion and test preparation

    Use hands-on materials and educational technology to enhance learning

    Support Lead Instructor with class activities and clubs, if needed

    Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

    Complete all tutor training and orientation, including clearances

    Serve as a positive role model and mentor to students

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Eligible for Federal Work Study funding

    Strong academic background in literacy, mathematics, science, or related fields

    Ability to work effectively with children in grades 1-8

    Patience, creativity, and excellent communication skills

    Reliable, punctual, and professional

    Clear background check (required)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience working with children or in educational settings

    Bilingual skills (Spanish)

 

WORK SCHEDULE

    Monday & Wednesday, between 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM 

    Commitment of one academic semester preferred

    Hours may vary based on program needs and student availability
