Patient Care Assistant II (Specialist Out-patient Department)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct contact with patients and provide various supporting services under nurses’ supervision.
2. Provide supportive assistance during care process and assist in examination and other investigative procedures.
3. Perform daily disinfection, care and maintenance of medical equipment.
4. Assist in coordination work of patient flow.
5. Perform reception services, e.g. appointment booking, answer telephone, explain simple information to patient and medical record tracing etc.
6. Provide patient education as according to protocol.
7. Prepare medical records and file the clinic notes for outpatients.
8. Prepare GCRS order, collect and deliver specimen under guidance.
9. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the clinic.
10. Check and request stock items of the clinic
11. Assist in clinical audit and data analysis.
12. Assist in providing supervision and coaching for the job performance of Patient Care Assistant III or new join Patient Care Assistant II/III.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Entry Requirements:

1. F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks).
2. Completed structured departmental training (see Remarks).
3. Holding certificate of the Health Care Assistant / Care-related Support Worker Course accredited by HA (See Remarks).
4. Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken.

Preferred Attributes/Exposure:

1. Completed and passed venipuncture course.

2. Possess relevant experience in venipuncture or blood collection and/or acute hospital setting and clinic.

3. Self-initiative, self-motivate and able to work independently.

4. Good communication and interpersonal skill.

5. Proficiency in Chinese dialect other than Cantonese.

2. Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.

4. Serving staff who have completed F.3 / S.3 or equivalent and have 2 years' care-related experience may also be considered.
5. Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by Hospital Authority are considered to have attained F.3/S/3 level and eligible to apply for this post.
