HK$19,764 – HK$24,701 per month

Up to 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities :

1.               Perform specimen reception, sorting, labeling and registration to the Laboratory Information System.

2.               Handle specimen including blood, urine, sputum, body fluid and human tissue.

3.               Handle blood specimen at required temperature and follow instructions on its storage.

4.               Assist in performing stock take of blood components, blood component preparation, blood group testing, blood product labeling and plasma fractionator shipment.

5.               Handle and process blood request, product recall and ensure proper blood storage condition and arrangement for emergency repair when needed.

6.               Prepare disinfectants for laboratory use.

7.               Assist in the preparation of laboratory equipment, e.g. replenish daily consumables and prepare reagents for laboratory use and equipment maintenance under supervision.

8.               Maintain laboratory area in clean and tidy condition, e.g. disinfect and clean blood processing/transportation accessories, disinfect and clean contaminated laboratory apparatus and equipment including dissection tables, fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, bone saw, remove wax on the floor and maintain work benches clean.

9.               Perform general clerical work, e.g. data processing, compilation of blood requests and usage statistics, storage, filing, photo copying, scanning of documents, delivery of documents, archives of slides, tissue blocks and clinical specimens using various kinds of computer systems.

10.            Operate automatic stainer, coverslipper, slide printer, slide scanner, cassette printer, steam sterilizer and other simple equipment under technical staff guidance.

11.            Handle disposal of laboratory wastes, including domestic, clinical, human tissues, biological and chemical wastes.

12.            Handle irritants and inflammable chemicals including formalin, xylene and alcohol.

13.            Assist in receiving goods and store management.

14.            Answer telephone calls and emergency enquiries after office hours.

15.            Perform related duties in mortuary / shift duties in a 24-hour laboratory during Public Holiday and during tropical typhoon, rainstorm and other emergencies when required.

16.            Perform any other job related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements :

1.         Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent. (Please note Remarks 2)

2.         Completed structured departmental training. (Please note Remarks 3)

Preferred Attributes / Exposure :

1.               Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken Cantonese.

2.               Have relevant work experience in laboratory.

3.               Interested to work in hospital with patients.

4.               Knowledge in computer operation and PC applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.

2.     Serving staff with F.3/ S.3 standard and 2 years’ care-related work experience may also be considered. Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by Hospital Authority are considered to have attained F.3/S.3 level.

3.     Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
