Job Overview

 

The Literacy tutor works with students in grades K-3 in small groups of students of five or less, who have been identified as needing additional support in early literacy

 

Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed
appropriate:

 

The Literacy tutor works side by side with the school reading specialists to help students improve early literacy skills,
including phonemic awareness and fluency.

 

Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also
acceptable.

 

Education
High school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

 

Experience
NA

 

Licenses and Certifications
Teacher licensure in grades K-8 preferred. License must be an active Virginia license to receive the licensed rate.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Ability to relate to children, teacher, and other school staff
? Knowledge of educational evidence-based best practices in education
? Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines

Salary Range: Band 12  $32.00-Non Licensed, Band 15  $39.14-Licensed
