Roby Elementary School is looking for a positive, patient, and team-oriented candidate who has strong content knowledge with the ability to provide varied instructional strategies. Candidates must embrace the use of technology and have a strong work ethic. Must be flexible and willing to learn. In this role, tutors will assist in the implementation of education programs by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and instruction to meet the needs of parents and children in all grade levels at Roby.

Position Details
Hours: 2 hours per day
Contract Length: 179 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 7 planning days
- 2 extended days
Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status: Part-time - NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS
Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Must meet one of the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associate’s Degree OR
- High school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.
- Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Compensation & Experience Credit
Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.
2025-2026 Pay Scale
- Starting Pay (Step 0): $23.33/hour
- Experienced Pay (Step 10): $25.55/hour
We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.
New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.
- The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate <> Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. <> Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
