The focus study tutor will work with the guidance department to oversee small focus groups.
Responsibilities will include:
- teach students tools and strategies for organization
- model and encourage the establishment of systems and routines for the management of homework, study skills/test prep, and academic materials (folders, binders, etc).
- review teacher CANVAS pages
- manage small group testing calendar based on teacher collaboration and CANVAS announcements (daily)
- provide small group testing support when counselors are in student/parent/team meetings
- manage a visual display of all grades’ assignments for students to access throughout their day
- develop a means of documenting the work completed by students while in the Focus Study class
- utilize GoGuardian to monitor student activity on computers while in the classroom
- Attend weekly meetings with Guidance Counselors
- utilize Sign-Up Genius to provide opportunities to meet with families during daytime conferencing hours on Parent-Teacher Conference days.
- teach students tools and strategies for time-management (managing assignments and deadlines). This includes helping students break down long-term assignments into smaller tasks with concrete mini-deadlines. /test prep, and academic materials (folders, binders, etc).
- Regular and on-time attendance is needed for the supervision of students.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
