ELA Tutor – Southfield Library (Adult Learner)

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays – 1-hour sessions (9:00–10:00 AM or 11:00 AM–12:00 PM)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a patient and skilled ELA tutor to support a 70-year-old adult learner. The focus of instruction will be on improving oral communication skills and strengthening reading comprehension.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one ELA tutoring sessions twice per week
• Focus on reading comprehension strategies and verbal communication skills
• Adapt instruction to support adult learning needs and pacing
• Maintain consistency and encourage learner confidence and progress

Requirements:

• Experience tutoring or teaching ELA/reading preferred
• Comfortable working with adult learners
• Reliable availability during morning hours only (no evening sessions due to caregiving schedule constraints)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Details:

• Sessions held in-person at Southfield Library
• Must be dependable and punctual
